This is your space to keep growing, participating, and making a difference, while enjoying the following exclusive benefits:
We Safeguard Our Benefits, We Preserve Your Future!
The Association actively represents and protects the rights of all retirees by maintaining a strong presence in key IDB Group committees where decisions about pensions, medical insurance, and retiree welfare are made.
Through our participation in the IDB Staff Retirement Plan Committees—including the Pension Committee, Managing Committee, and Administration Subcommittee—we monitor policy changes, advocate for transparency, and ensure that retirees’ voices are heard in every decision that affects their financial security.
In addition, our involvement in the Medical Insurance Program Committee allows us to closely follow the management of health plans, provide feedback on benefit structures, and promote policies that protect the well-being of current and future retirees.
By staying engaged at every level, the Association safeguards the stability of your benefits today and works to preserve your future peace of mind.
Stay Informed, Stay Connected!
InTouch Newsletter
The Association offers all its members a bilingual (English and Spanish) newsletter delivered on time each month, providing key information on medical insurance, pensions, and U.S. tax filing, among other relevant topics. It features a practical and educational approach that makes it easier for members to use the documents and resources needed to simplify important procedures.
It also includes news about the organization, community activities, and a varied selection of cultural, health, and entertainment articles. As an added value, we promote our members’ intellectual and artistic projects, showcasing their talents and achievements in our “Quill & Ink” and “Gallery” sections, which are permanently available on the website.
This newsletter is one of our most well-received resources, with an average open rate of 65%, reflecting high reader engagement and making it a true virtual meeting point that connects our entire community.
Annual Reports
In addition to the newsletter, the Association publishes an Annual Report that provides a transparent summary of the main activities, achievements, and initiatives carried out in defense of retirees’ interests.
These reports include information on the Association’s participation in IDB Group committees, progress made on pension and medical insurance matters, the impact of our cultural and social initiatives, and the financial results of the fiscal year.
They reflect the Association’s firm commitment to accountability and open communication, strengthening trust and unity among its members.
Social Media
We also have social media and other direct messaging channels (WhatsApp and Facebook). Personalized emails with relevant news are sent to members who wish to receive them.
Events that Inspire, Gatherings that Unite!
At the Association, we organize social, cultural, artistic, and sports activities that keep our retiree network vibrant and strengthen the bonds that unite us. We promote participatory spaces such as the Rincón Cultural and other initiatives that allow us to share our members’ rich talents and reinforce our collective identity.
We offer both free and paid options, available in person in the Washington metropolitan area and online, considering the diverse interests of our members. Event costs are generally lower than similar individually organized events.

Wherever there’s an IDB Retiree, there’s a Chapter that Connects Them!
The IDB Retirees Association is not limited to Washington, DC, we have active Chapters in 15 countries, allowing members to stay connected to the IDB community in different corners of Latin and North America.
In each Chapter, members have the opportunity to spearhead initiatives by proposing projects, workshops, or social activities that respond to the needs and interests of retirees in their region. At the same time, they can represent their country or region, serving as the voice of local retirees within the Association’s international community.
Connecting IDB Retirees Around the World!
Through this resource, you can easily access contact information for other members in over 40 countries to maintain personal and professional ties. The Member Directory is not just a list of contacts; it’s a living bridge that connects our global community of retirees and enables you to reconnect with former colleagues and expand your social and cultural network.
We Honor their Lives, We Celebrate their Legacy Within the IDB Family!
We also dedicate a space to honor and remember the lives of our retired colleagues who have passed. Through the shared obituaries, we celebrate their professional journeys, their contributions to the IDB community, and their human legacy. This gesture offers family, colleagues, and friends a place to pay tribute, express condolences, and publicly recognize the value of those who were part of our shared history.
