The decline in economic activity experienced by Uruguay as a result of the voluntary quarantine implemented to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 virus, has left many people unable to generate income. This has had a significant effect on low-income families, many of which cannot afford to put food on the table.
The objective of the project is to improve the food situation of families living in the city of Rivera and surrounding areas located on the border with Brazil. Its inhabitants are undergoing a desperate situation of unemployment and lack of protection as a result of the pandemic. The $5,000 donation will fund the production of 860 food baskets for vulnerable families.
The NGO Cua Cua Sporting Club is the project’s executing agency. The project was approved by the Board of Directors of the Association of Retiree on June 30, 2020 and the funds were disbursed on July 7, 2020.
