Paraguay – Meals and Hygiene Supplies for People Living in Marginal Settlements of Asuncion – Iglesia del Barrio de las Mercedes
The pandemic and the strategy used to combat it have resulted in a food crisis that affects the poorest population in Paraguay. To address this crisis, the Social Pastoral of Paraguay’s Catholic Church requested its parishes to initiate a feeding program comprising soup kitchens.
The objective of the $3,000 donation is providing food and personal protection equipment to 80 people living in the marginal settlements, located near the parish of Las Mercedes, on the banks of the Paraguay River.
The executor of the project is the church in Asuncion’s Las Mercedes neighborhood. The project was approved by the Board of Directors of the Association of Retirees on June 26, 2020. The funds were disbursed on July 8, 2020.
