Medicare Part C & D Marketing offers

Our records indicate that you and/or your dependent are enrolled in for Medicare Part A (US Citizens and Permanent Residents who worked and paid Social Security taxes in the US for 10 or more years) and/or, Medicare Part B (US citizens and members who transitioned from G4 visa status to permanent resident status upon retirement from the IDB Group), as applicable. Even though you are already enrolled, you may be receiving telephone calls and mailings about “Medicare Advantage” (often referred to as “Medicare Part C”) plans and Medicare “Part D” drug plans during the current Medicare “open enrollment” period, which usually extends from mid-October through December each year. Please be advised that you do NOT need to purchase a “Medicare Advantage” plan or a Medicare Part D plan. These plans provide coverage for dental, vision and hearing services that are not covered under traditional Medicare Parts A and B.

Your IDB Group medical benefits plan provides you with coverage for these services. You will not be reimbursed for premiums for any Medicare Advantage plan or Medicare Part D plan. Through your current participation in Medicare Parts A (see above) and B (see above) and the IDB Group medical benefits plan, you already have the coverages that these additional Medicare products offer.

Your participation in Medicare Part A and/or Medicare Part B as applicable will continue automatically.

Your reimbursement for Medicare Part B premiums will continue if you provide the necessary documentation to P&A Group, the Bank’s Medicare premium administrator. You must send the amount of your monthly premium for the coming year to P&A Group as you do each year. If you have registered in the debit card program offered through P&A Group for 2023, you will send the information on your 2023 premium amount to P&A Group with the documentation of your first debit card payment. The debit card program was offered only to existing Medicare Part B enrollees who currently pay quarterly premiums directly to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). More detailed information about this new payment mechanism will be sent to those who registered for it in coming days.

As a reminder, the IDB Group Medical Insurance Program has a mandatory Medicare participation rule for Members eligible to participate in Medicare if you and/or your dependent are:

  • age 65 or older and
  • a US citizen, or a lawfully admitted permanent resident with five years of continuous residency in the US (Please note that time spent in the US in G4 visa status before your retirement counts toward the 5-year residency requirement.)

 About the Different Medicare Plans

If you are a US citizen or a permanent resident who has worked in the US and paid US taxes for at least 10 years, you should be enrolled in Medicare Part A (for which there is no premium) AND Medicare Part B.

If you obtained permanent resident status upon retirement from the IDB Group, you should be enrolled only for Medicare Part B

Important: If a citizen or permanent resident (or their dependents) do not enroll in Medicare Part B when they are eligible, their claims for reimbursement for medical services will not be processed for payment. If an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for the portion of the cost paid by Medicare is not present in the claims processing system, their claim will be held pending receipt of the Medicare EOB and may be closed without the corresponding payment.

If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to email Mrs. Carmen Sanabria at mariadcs@iadb.org or call 202-623-3137.

Sincerely,
