The northern part of Costa Rica faces major challenges as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic due not only to the local population infected with the Coronavirus but also due to the flow of migrants from Nicaragua seeking medical care. The San Carlos Hospital is strategically located in Ciudad Quesada, Province of Alajuela which allows it to serve both the surrounding population and a large number of Nicaraguan migrants.
The objective of the $3,100 donation is to equip the San Carlos Hospital with 5 portable medical aspirators that will allow them to better care for patients with respiratory problems.
The Association Social Assistance Fund of the San Carlos Hospital is the executing agency of the project and will be responsible for the execution of this project. The project was approved by the Board of the Association of Retirees on August 4, 2020 and the funds were disbursed on August 13, 2020.
