Due to the serious pandemic, Chile closed the doors to visitors in all nursing homes in the country in order to protect its residents from the Coronavirus. This isolation has strongly affected these seniors who live in low-income nursing homes as they have no way of connecting with their families.
In order to provide comfort and companionship to these elderly people, the donation of $ 3,166 from the Association together with external contributions of $ 41,834, will finance the purchase of 180 tablets to be distributed among 12 nursing homes, benefitting an estimated 500 seniors who reside in these homes.
The Foundation of the Families is the executing agency and will supervise the project through its Digital Family Centers (CFD). The project was approved by the Board of the Retirees Association on June 18, 2020 and the funds were disbursed on June 26, 2020.
