Austrian Again: Reclaiming a Lost Legacy

On January 27, the world observed the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, established by the United Nations to honor the memory of those who perished in the Nazi genocide. In this spirit of remembrance, we warmly invite you to join us for a special book presentation of Austrian Again: Reclaiming a Lost Legacy by Anne Hand, in attendance.

Anne devoted her professional career to advancing social development through research focused on the Americas. She worked at the IDB from 2016 to 2020, and in October of last year, made her debut as an author with the publication of her first book. Austrian Again: Reclaiming a Lost Legacy weaves together her family’s past during the Holocaust with her recent journey to reclaim Austrian citizenship through complex restitution laws.

This moving and deeply personal work brings to light a long-hidden family story and seeks to encourage reflection on identity, the power of memory, and the enduring legacy of those who came before us.
